Madeline Smith
Movie ActressFamous for her work in numerous Hammer Productions horror films of the late 1960s and early 1970s and for her role opposite Ava Gardner in the 1970 movie Tam-Lin, Smith is also known for her stage and television work. Her small-screen credits include the short-lived ITV series Doctor at Large and the BBC2 show The End of the Pier Show; her theatrical roles include Felicity Rumpers in Habeas Corpus (in a London West End production with Alan Bennett) and Elma in Canaries Sometimes Sing (at the Cambridge Theatre Company). She began her entertainment career as a model. She appeared in her debut film -- a horror movie titled Taste the Blood of Dracula -- in 1969. Early in her career, she was the subject of a J. Edward Oliver comic strip titled "The Life and Habits of the Madeline Smith." Her marriage to fellow television actor David Buck resulted in a daughter named Emily and ended with Buck's 1989 death from cancer. She appeared with actor Vincent Price in the 1973 horror film Theatre of Blood.
