She was nominated for an Annie Award for Outstanding Individual Achievement for her voice acting in The Lion King II: Simba's Pride. She studied at the High School of Performing Arts and then went on to Finch College. She started her career in theater, and later appeared in the 1966 film The Ugly Dachshund. She married her first husband, Troy Donahue, in 1964, and the couple split after eight months of stormy cohabitation. She starred in Alfred Hitchcock's thriller film The Birds.
